an evening list

I love Spring evenings, when the world seems translucent and the birds sound like a Catholic congregation: hallelujah, hallelujah. Their gentle, reverent voices make the light shine with joy.

bright windows
gentle, bee-coloured shadows
children laughing
beach barbecue dinners
smiles full of long, low sunlight
homecoming
the gentling of the sky
peace & promise
song-filled trees

And some treasures found online recently ...

The true size of countries.

The human brain is hard-wired for rural environments.

Have I shared this before? How folklore haunts the British countryside.

The transformation of the six-year old child.

  1. Your evening list has me longing for early spring - here an autumn list would be entirely different but no less magical.
